Conjunction

The word used for joining one word to another word, one word to a clause or one sentence to another sentence is called a Conjunction. (ইংরেজিতে যে শব্দ দুই বা ততোধিক শব্দকে, একটি শব্দ ও একটি বাক্যাংশকে অথবা দুই বা ততোধিক বাক্যকে যুক্ত করে, তাকে Conjunction বলে।)
যেমন- And, or, but, if, because, whether ইত্যাদি।


Position in a Sentence (বাক্যে অবস্থান)
সাধারণত Conjunction দুটি শব্দ, দুটি বাক্যাংশ বা দুটি বাক্যের মাঝে অবস্থান করে।


Uses of Conjunction in Sentences (বাক্যে Conjunction এর ব্যবহার)


I am a boy and you are a girl.
He is clever but his brother is fool.
Eat or you will be weak.
Although he is poor, he is honest.
I did as she said.
Mita is absent, because she is ill.
Rahul will wait, till you come back.
He was wrong, so he was insulted.
We were going to school, while you were playing.
Try hard, otherwise you will fail.
I shall go, if you come.
Zahir as well as his brother is tall.
Amit is the boy who stood first.



Kinds of Conjunction (Conjunction এর প্রকারভেদ)
There are mainly two kinds of Conjunctions in English grammar. (ইংরেজি ব্যাকরণে প্রধাণত দুই ধরণের Conjunction রয়েছে।)


1. Coordinating Conjunction
2. Subordinating Conjunction

Coordinating Conjunction are of four types.
(a) Cumulative (সংযোজক)
(b) Alternative (বিকল্পবাচক)
(c) Adversative (বৈপরীত্যসূচক)
(d) Illative (সিদ্ধান্তবাচক)
