Pronoun

The word used as a substitute for a noun is called a pronoun. (Noun এর পরিবর্তে যে শব্দ ব্যবহৃত হয়, তাকে Pronoun বলে।)
যেমন- I, We, You, He, She, They ইত্যাদি।

Position in a Sentence (বাক্যে অবস্থান)
Noun এর মতোই Pronoun ও সাধারণত একটি বাক্যের Subject অথবা Object হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Uses of Pronoun in Sentences (বাক্যে Pronoun এর ব্যবহার)

He gives you a book.
She is angry.
They are honest.
This is nice.
He is in a dark room.
I know him .
Try to do it by yourself.
I need the red pen .
We are strong.
You are a young man.


Kinds of Pronoun (Pronoun এর প্রকারভেদ)
There are nine kinds of Pronoun. Pronoun কে নয় প্রকারে বিভক্ত করা যায়।
1. Personal Pronoun,
2. Possessive Pronoun,
3. Reflexive Pronoun & Emphatic Pronoun,
4. Demonstrative Pronoun,
5. Indefinite Pronoun,
6. Relative Pronoun,
7. Interrogative Pronoun,
8. Distributive Pronoun,
9. Reciprocal Pronoun.



1. Personal Pronoun
যে সকল Pronoun কোন Person বা ব্যক্তির পরিবর্তে বসে, তাকে Personal Pronoun বলে। যেমন- I, We, You, He, She, They

2. Possessive Pronoun
যে সকল Pronoun দ্বারা Possession বা অধিকার বোঝানো হয়, তাদেরকে Possessive Pronoun বলে।যেমন- Mine, Ours, Yours, His, Hers, Theirs

3. Reflexive Pronoun & Emphatic Pronoun
যে সকল Pronoun self বা selves যোগে গঠিত হয় এবং কর্তা ও কর্ম একই ব্যক্তিকে বোঝায়, তাদেরকে Reflexive Pronoun বলে। যেমন- Myself, Ourselves, Yourself, Yourselves ইত্যাদি।

4. Demonstrative Pronoun
যে সকল Pronoun কোনো Noun কে বিশেষভাবে নির্দেশ করে, তাদেরকে Demonstrative Pronoun বলে। যেমন- This, That, These, Those, It

5. Indefinite Pronoun
যে সকল Pronoun কোনো অনির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে বোঝায়, তাদেরকে Indefinite Pronoun বলে।

6. Relative Pronoun
যে সকল Pronoun দুটি বাক্যের মধ্যে Relation বা সম্বন্ধ বুঝিয়ে দেয়, তাদেরকে Relative Pronoun বলে। এগুলি সাধারণত বাক্যের মাঝে বসে। যেমন- Who, Whose, Whom, Which, That

7. Interrogative Pronoun
প্রশ্ন করার জন্য যে সকল Pronoun ব্যবহৃত হয়, তাদেরকে Interrogative Pronoun বলে। যেমন- Who, Whose, Whom, Which, What ইত্যাদি। এসকল Pronoun সাধারনত বাক্যের প্রথমে বসে।

8. Distributive Pronoun
যে সকল Pronoun এক জাতীয় একাধিক ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর মধ্যে প্রত্যেকটিকে পৃথক ভাবে বোঝায়, তাদেরকে Distributive Pronoun বলে। যেমন- Each, Either, Neither

9. Reciprocal Pronoun
যে সকল Pronoun একাধিক ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর মধ্যে পারস্পরিক সম্পর্ক বুঝিয়ে দেয়, তাদেরকে Reciprocal Pronoun বলে। যেমন- Each other, One another

Special Rules of Pronoun (Pronoun এর বিশেষ নিয়ম)

The special rules of Pronoun are described below. If you can learn the rules of pronoun properly, your skill in using Pronoun of English language will be increased more.
(নিচে Pronoun এর বিশেষ নিয়মগুলো বর্ণিত হলো৷ আপনি যদি Pronoun এর বিশেষ নিয়মগুলো সঠিকভাবে আয়ত্ব করতে পারেন, তবে ইংরেজি ভাষায় Pronoun ব্যবহারে আপনার দক্ষতা আরও বৃদ্ধি পাবে।)

১। Everybody, everyone, anybody, anyone, each প্রভৃতির ক্ষেত্রে প্রসঙ্গ অনুযায়ী Pronoun He অথবা She বসতে পারে। যেমন-

Everyone of the boys is in the class.
Everyone of the girls is in her class.

যখন প্রসঙ্গ থেকে লিঙ্গ বোঝা যায় না, তখন সাধারণত Masculine Gender এর Pronoun ব্যবহার করা হয়। যেমন-

Everyone will try his best.
Each should choose his own way.

২। বাক্যে One Pronoun টি ব্যবহার করা হলে তার পরিবর্তে He অথবা She ব্যবহার করা যাবে না। এ ক্ষেত্রে One শব্দটিই ব্যবহার করতে হবে। যেমন-

One must do one's duty. (Not his duty or her duty)
